Kip's Castle - Verona, NJ: The Wedding of Brian and Victoria

LB

We were so excited to finally have the opportunity to photograph a wedding at the amazing Kip’s Castle in Verona, NJ! An awesome historic venue replicating a medieval Norman castle with a ton of locations for portraits? Yes, please!! Vicki and Brian’s wedding was beautiful and intimate, and it was an honor to be there for them. She emphasized from the start how important candid moments of the kids would be to her, and I think we did a pretty good job in that respect. 😎We are all about photojournalism when it comes to wedding photography. Anyway, some words below from the couple!

How did you and your partner meet?

Brian and I “met” on Bumble back in November 2017 but didn’t have our first date till much later. In fact we lost touch after he realized I had a houseful of cats as he is allergic. It would be a little over a year later that we actually have our first date (August 4, 2018).

What are you most looking forward to?
All the adventures! Most certainly in expanding our fur family.

Describe your ceremony in three words:

Eclectic
Simple
Us

What is your ceremony music?

I’ll be walking down to isle to the song “A Thousand Years”.

Why did you choose the ceremony and reception locations?

We picked Kips Castle because it was a beautiful outdoor venue. We knew from the get go that we would be outside for the wedding and reception. Both of us are about being unique and the castle 100% fit that criteria. Who gets married on the grounds of a castle?!

How would you describe your reception theme?

Donuts. I don’t think either of us put too much thought into our reception aside from the fact that we knew we didn’t want anything formal and certainly nothing traditional. I’m so excited to see the donuts cake!

What was your favorite part of the planning process?

My favorite part of the planning process was the my bridal makeup trial. It was heart stopping to see the transformation from my everyday look to looking like an actual bride. At that moment it was real that I was really getting married to my best friend.

What was the worst part of the planning process?

The worst part of the process was handling all the preconceived notions about what a wedding should look like.

What food are you most looking forward to on the wedding reception menu?

Donut cake hands down.

Tell us about the cake!!

The cake is something I’ve been dreaming about for what seems like forever. Instead of a traditional wedding cake we are doing a donut cake from Montclair Bread. We hope our guests will be blown away by its uniqueness and its deliciousness.

What were your vows like?

We stuck with traditional wedding vows.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony?

My favorite thing about the wedding ceremony was having my nanny kiddos participate. Such joy to have them included! Nothing cuter than watching the flower girls and the ring bearer walk down the isle.

What advice do you have for other couples in the midst of planning a wedding?

For our wedding we leaned heavily on one of my closest friends to help plan the wedding. It was so helpful having someone who knew us and who was invested in the outcome.

Do you have any budget tips for other couples?

Instead of a cake we had the local donut shop make a donut tower. I found my dress on sale at the bridal store.

What was the best advice you were given?

The best advice we were given was just to go with the flow. And know what? It was the best advice.

What was your favorite moment or part of the reception?

My favorite part of the reception was getting to interact with my dear friends and family.

What was your favorite moment from the day?

My favorite moment had to be standing in front of Brian who had tears in his eyes.
