Driftwood Cabana Club: The Wedding of Rachel & Christian
Rachel and Christian had the most beautiful and intimate beach wedding, with a reception to follow at the DRIFTHOUSE by David Burke restaurant! They are sweethearts and laughed all day long. Shoutout to my amazing second shooter Mike Mullan for capturing such beautiful detail shots while I worked with the couple on their family portraits!
How did you and your partner meet?
We started off as friends in graduate school. We met at this really boring party and started talking. We realized that we had a lot in common and our friendship grew from there.
When did you first know he / she was "the one?"
I think we both knew from the moment we met that we met someone special.
What are you most looking forward to?
We're mostly looking forward to moving into our new home outside of Charlotte, North Carolina and not having to fly to see each other every weekend!
Describe your ceremony in three words:
It's finally happening!
What is the first dance song? Father/daughter or mother/son dance?
We have two songs.... "Good Life" by OneRepublic and "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5. Rachel's brother is going to play Sunday Morning as we walk down the aisle after the ceremony.
Why did you choose the ceremony and reception locations?
We're having our ceremony on the beach at the Driftwood Cabana Club and the reception at the Drifthouse by David Burke. We chose the Drifthouse because the food is outstanding. We're most excited about the "clothesline" bacon at the cocktail hour!
Tell us about the cake!!
The Vintage Cake designed a three-tier chocolate and vanilla wedding cake with pastry cream and chocolate mousse filling. Best part? It's gluten-free so Rachel can eat it! As a surprise, Rachel asked the Vintage Cake to design a groom's cake for Christian of his Audi R8.
How would you describe your reception theme?
We wanted an intimate wedding where we could have good food, good drinks, and really just celebrate this next chapter in our lives with our family and friends.
