Rustic Yet Elegant DIY Backyard Wedding: The Wedding of Stephanie & Andrew
My jaw dropped when Stephanie told me about her vision for her wedding and my heart started beating a little faster. Antique furniture set outside for cocktail hour, long farmhouse style tables dripping with greenery and candles in a tented reception, set on their family farm? If I’d have been standing, I would have been weak in the knees. Despite a little misty weather, her vision was executed perfectly and it was truly a dream of a day. Enjoy these delicious images from this beautiful wedding!
When we asked the bride if there was anything special she wanted to add to her photos, she wrote, “We love where we live and we really want to highlight the history and natural beauty of the land!”
What were your vows like?
We wrote our own. We wanted to keep it heartfelt and sweet but also include a touch of humor. They summed us up as a couple pretty well: simple, affectionate, and light hearted. We're always laughing!
What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony?
Steph: His face when he saw me was something I'll never forget. Never felt so pretty!
Andrew: Watching her walk down the aisle I've never felt so sure that I was the luckiest man in the world, she looked stunning.
Both: We also got tongue-tied on the same line, we got a good laugh!
What advice do you have for other couples in the midst of planning a wedding?
Don't take it too seriously! And don’t try to people please everyone. Remember in the end it's your day and only one thing matters in the end-- you're married!
Do you have any budget tips for other couples?
Make sure you have a contingency for those extra fees and gratuities you don’t account for. Some things sneak up unexpectedly!
If you had it to do over again, is there anything you would do differently?
Start DIY projects earlier. Otherwise, not a thing!
What was the best advice you were given?
Take time to enjoy and take it in!
What was your favorite moment or part of the reception?
Seeing everyone come together and have a great time, the special moments (parent dances, cake smash, etc.)
What was your favorite moment from the day?
This is a hard one. We really loved every part. Nothing ever goes perfectly, and theres always hiccups. Not enough napkins, a vendor doesn’t show up, things that you plan for months and years don’t go smoothly. But none of it matters when you're completely enamored and enjoying the first moments of marriage and celebrating with loved ones.

The bride is a wedding planner, and arranged everything herself. She also took care of the beautiful florals as well as her own makeup for the day.
