What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony?

Rob: There were a few favorite moments for me. St. Michael Church itself is so beautiful and really added to the excitement and joy of the day. Seeing Susan (Lizzie's mom) come down the aisle to kick off the ceremony accompanied by John and Tommy was such a great moment. Seeing Lizzie appear in the doorway to enter the church was a sight I won't forget.

Lizzie: Saint Michael's is a very special place for me and my family. My parents and grandparents were married there and it's just so beautiful. Walking in with my Dad and then seeing Rob standing at the end of the aisle was surreal! I loved that Father Tom mentioned our ring bearer pillow which was made from Rob's grandmother's wedding dress.

These kids worked so hard to blow bubbles for the photos! It was adorable.

What was your favorite moment from the day?

Rob: Dancing with Lizzie to our first song and getting the chance to talk to her one on one about our days and how exciting it was to finally be where we were.

Lizzie: Walking out of the church finally married!!! Seeing everyone as we walked out and then walking across the street to Hamilton Park. I'm so happy the weather was beautiful and that we were able to take some photos in the park. I used to go there just about everyday with my Mom when I was a kid. I also loved our trolley ride to the reception. We got to celebrate a little with our parents and bridal party while still have a second together to take it all in.

What was the best advice you were given?

We had been to a lot of weddings together since we were dating for a long time before our wedding. Talking with a lot of couples who had gone through the big day already the best advice I heard was to take some time during the day for just the two of us There were a couple of points during the night where we were just able to talk alone about how crazy excited we were and how awesome everything had turned out.

What was your favorite moment or part of the reception?

Rob: The first dances along with the band playing great music all night were two of my favorite things. I think I sat at our table for all of 10 minutes because we were out on the dance floor for most of the night. Getting to spend time with a lot of friends and family that we haven't seen in a while was also a lot of fun.

Lizzie: Everything was so great! I loved all the speeches that were made, they were so incredibly thoughtful. I loved how everyone rushed to the dance floor when "Runaround Sue" came on to dance with my Mom! (Susie)

What advice do you have for other couples in the midst of planning a wedding?

Enjoy the "fun stress" that comes with all of the planning. There will be times that it seems very overwhelming but just remember at the end of the day you are simply planning a day to celebrate the two of you surrounded by nothing but people who love you. Let yourself have fun with it! Celebrate little planning milestones along the way!

The Landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre is a truly incredible place to have a wedding. It originally opened in 1929 and was considered a "movie palace." It was meant to be a place where a middle class worker could take their family after a long day and feel like they were on top of the world. That feeling is strong even today as soon as you step into the grand lobby. This is the perfect place for a wedding for movie buffs, a couple who wants a 1920s or Great Gatsby theme wedding, history buffs, or simply a couple who wants a wedding every guest will remember.

The rental fee for your wedding will go directly into the non-profit that works tirelessly to restore the theatre and that keeps it as an active cultural resource--screening classic movies and hosting music concerts. It's easy to get to from Manhattan, as there is a PATH station right across the street, and of course, Jersey City has plenty of choices for hotels. There's also a parking deck directly behind the theatre with very reasonable rates, so guests driving in don't have to worry about finding parking.

You bring in your own caterer, so this theatre is great for people with all kinds of budgets. It's very much a DIY situation, but that means you have control over how much or how little you spend. With the theatre being as grand and beautiful as it is, it's very possible to be sparse with decorations and flowers and still have an awe-inspiring setting for your day.
